The source of Volvic: born from the heart of volcanoes
13,500 years ago, a volcanic eruption filled my valley with rocks, creating an immense natural filter, through which the water flows. To provide this unique volcanic mineral water takes time and non-stop care to the nature around it.
Discover the characteristics of our volcanic source
Volvic's history began 35 million years ago with the formation of Plateau des Dômes and the collapse of the Limagne plain. Then 100,000 years ago, the Chaîne des Puys, made up of 80 volcanoes, was created from magma rising up through fractures in the earth. A number of these volcanoes, including the Puy de la Nugère, erupted 13,500 years ago filling in Volvic's ancient valley to create the immense natural filter we have today. Thus, Volvic Natural Mineral Water originates from the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park.
Created by nature, protected by humans.
Our unique Volvic natural mineral water originates in the Chaîne des Puys-Limagne Fault, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in June 2018, due to the area's exceptional geological landscape
Volvic ensures a sustainable and responsible management of the Volvic water source so that it can continue to renew itself in the natural way. This is led by an expert team of hydrogeologists, who are vital in guaranteeing the conservation and protection of the source, and ensuring that we do not take more than what nature can allow.
